God's One Purpose
Section I

God has one Purpose.

God wants to bring more sons to glory. For it became Him, for Whom are all things, and by Whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory – Heb 2:10. He wanted to expand His family. His sons would be from humans and would consist of a people who would gladly submit to His will and live with Him forever sharing His glory. They would bear His image and be in His likeness. They are born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. – John 1:13. Women=Men. No difference.

Will all His sons in glory be all of thirty-three and a half years or so, all in our primes? Possible. Because when we behold Jesus, we will be like Him. And, He is still a Man up in glory not likely to have aged any more than what He was when He left this world with a body “that will not fade away”.

In His purpose, God desires His would-be sons to be gathered together in His first-begotten Son, the Lord Christ Jesus. That in the dispensation of the fulness of times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in Him. – Eph 1:10. But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. – John 1:12.

As His purpose is being accomplished, God wanted to exhibit His manifold wisdom to the spiritual principalities and powers – good and evil. He is now showing them the riches of His mercy, His grace, His love, and His glory, apart from the riches of His power, in the lives of His believers. To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God – Eph 3:10. And that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had afore prepared unto glory. – Rom 9:23.

In fact, the whole creation is eagerly waiting for this climactic event – the culmination of the purpose of God. For the earnest expectation of the creature is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of Him Who hath subjected the same in hope, because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation is groaning and travailing in pain together until now. – Rom 8:19-22. Jesus “gave himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father”. – Gal 1:4.

God could have created many sons for Himself, all submitting to Him unconditionally – no questions asked! But He didn’t. God wanted to show to His Spirit beings – fallen as well as those who stay loyal to Him – that His creation choose Him as God to serve Him not with envy, grudge, or for want of an alternative but that they willfully choose to serve Him by submitting their wills, please Him and love Him forever as His sons, thus fulfilling His eternal purpose. Genuine love is possible only if free-will can be exercised.

As did (and still do) Satan and the deceived angels, there is a huge population of mankind that has swallowed the lie of the Devil (that they can be like God by breaking away from Him) and keep rebelling against the purpose and plan of God to do their own will (aligning with Satan, God’s adversary). These generations count themselves out of the “chosen generation” (1 Pet 2:9), which is the Seed (generation) of Christ – Gal 3:16. The all-knowing God knows who these people are that have chosen to detach themselves wilfully from the Purpose of God. It is this foreknowledge of God that made Him choose the believing lot in Him before the foundation of the world – Eph 1:4. When Paul talks about this “election” (Rom 9:11) he gives an illustration – Even before Esau and Jacob (later renamed Israel by God himself) were born, while they were still in the womb of Rebecca their mother, even before they did any good or evil, God wanted His purpose according to election to continue. God elected Jacob because this was not according to the outward works of the individual but according to the faith in the heart of the person. God knew that Jacob would be the believer and not Esau. God’s foreknowledge precedes election. God is not to blame!

He has chosen this believing generation right from Adam’s son Seth and later in Abraham, the father of the believing generation, as His Elect according to the foreknowledge of God – 1 Pet 1:1. For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover, whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified. – Rom 8:29, 30. So, here is the order that God follows to fulfill His purpose: foreknowledge, election, predestination, calling, justification, sanctification, and glorification.

Beware, God also knows who will forfeit their privilege of becoming a son of God. These might count themselves in but unless they are loyal and remain faithful to the end, (he that endures to the end shall be saved – Mat 10:22; Matt 24:13; Mark 13:13) they might not be the chosen ones and so, are counted out by God, ab initio. Here is the difference between “who have accepted the Lord” and “who have been accepted by the Lord”. Accepting the Lord might happen at the lip level, but faith happens in the heart and confession is its outcome (Rom 10:9, 10). Life reflects this faith.

God Who cannot lie, promised to His chosen ones His un-ending life with Him before the world began – Titus 1:2 and this was recorded in the holy scriptures as prophecy – Rom1:2. This promise was fulfilled in Jesus Christ – 1 Pet 1:20; 1 Jn 5:11. So, whosoever believes in Him and His words will have this eternal life – Jn 3:16; Jn 6:68. None can pluck a possessor of eternal life from His hands. – Jn 10:28. Jesus Christ will raise such a person from the dead on the last day. – Jn 6:54.

The Almighty God is powerful enough to accomplish His purpose on this earth. God has once moved the earth (yes, literally, during the time of Noah by sending the Flood) and will do it once more (and the heaven too), to accomplish His one purpose here. He can and does move in people’s hearts to realize His purpose in them. He would and desires to transform and change your life to fulfill His purpose in You.
