Chapter 105
The war is shamefully on
Section III
The devil has been dreading the arrival of the Seed of the woman. Satan had been waging war against the believing line that would bring forth the promised Seed but drastically failed in every one of his attempts. Jesus came, fought the war, and “having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it”. – Col 2:14. The Man Child won the war on the cross. The Resurrection sealed the loser’s fate. But, shamefully, the enemy has directed his attack against believers unmindful of the fact that, though he would kill them physically, he will ultimately lose the war to them too. And the dragon was wroth with the woman and went to make war with the remnant of her seed which keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ (the Jewish and Gentile believers of the New Covenant). – Rev 12:17.
(Note: The unbelieving Jewish majority is agnostic or rebellious).
However, the dragon was put in chains and cast into the bottomless pit so that he would remain there for a thousand years – Rev 20:1-3. A long time indeed. Jesus, along with His believers, would reign as King during this long time. His Kingdom would expand to the end of the earth and flourish.
With their leader cast into the bottomless pit, Satan’s army is terrified of the believing generation. The reasons:
(1) The Saviour and Lord has already won the victory over Satan at the cross. The Vanquisher has already bruised his head. What a deadly blow it was!
(2) The Conqueror equipped His blood-bought redeemed with “the whole armor of God” to overcome their enemies. (Eph 6:12-17). He has not left them orphans during their short sojourn here on this earth.
(3) The Son has prayed to the Father Who has given them “another Comforter”, the Holy Spirit Himself, that God may abide with them “forever”, as their Helper. He has endowed them with the power from on high through His gifts to the believers so that they can exercise them and expand and enforce God’s sovereignty on earth.
(4) The Head of the Church also gave gifts of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers to His Body, “for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ”. – Eph 4:12, 13.
