More Deceptions in His-story: Fashion
Section III

Fashion is a leading industry and has been the main contributor to consumerism forcing its fangs even on the unaffordable public.

• Dressing and grooming have taken center stage in the lives of the young and the old. A lot of money is being spent on clothes today than ever and “Clothes maketh a man” is another cliché that drives the behavior of many.

• Modest dressing is no more a sensible practice – people don’t dress to conceal anymore; people dress to reveal. The morally-degraded Western world is heavily influencing the dressing sense of the Orient (and Indians) and degrading it rapidly.

• Some people spend significant time in front of the mirror and a large part of their income is spent on beauty enhancers. Latecomers to church services fall into this trap but keep blaming Satan.

• Cross-dressing is becoming common among even believers – women wearing men’s and vice versa. Even in hairdressing! Shame!

• Fashion shows are filled with porn and there are even dedicated TV channels that keep showing scantily clad men and women twenty-four hours a day in the name of fashion.

Christian youth spill out of their garments and make a show of their body as do the whores their wares. Girls and boys wear tight-fitting garments that exhibit their bodies and their contours to the ogling public. They follow the fashion of the world (and sometimes are trend-setters for others to follow – what a shame!) and fall for the attractions of the world thereby ruining their lives as well as the lives of others. They forget that the fashion world is only fooling them with falsehood, vanity, and empty promises and so, expect the same results in real life that are made of real people. A Christian that dresses immodestly, displays skin and private parts in public and wears tight-fitting garments to reveal the concealable, is not showing love but is sowing lust in the mind of the fellow believer, thus becoming a stumbling block and an offense for the believer to fall into sin. Believers must dress to conceal and not to reveal! Christian parents must groom this modesty in the minds of their children even from a young age by not buying them inappropriate clothes that expose/enhance private body parts and flesh.

• Cars and Bikes are objects of pride today than are means of transport. The pride of life pops up its head high in this area. Christians are not exceptions here. They would spend a fortune to acquire a trendy car or a bike – and most of the time this is to show to the other person that they could also afford such costly possessions. Snobbery! Many a Christian family has lost one of its loved ones that bought him a fast bike or a speedily accelerating automobile.

• Festivals in believers’ homes are times of lavishing money on clothes, jewels, and costly food unmindful of many around them who can’t afford even one decent meal or simple clothing. And thousands of missionary families who need active support are left to the mercy of the elements in their mission fields. It is a sad story when some families leave out old parents from the list while shopping.
