Chapter 140
Settling in His last occupant in His New City
Section IV
His New city is called the City of God, Sion, and New Jerusalem.
Each of its twelve gates is a pearl and are the twelve tribes of Israel – all believing spiritual children of Abraham who are the Elect and the Chosen in Christ – Jews as well as Gentiles. These are also known as “the Israel of God”. – Gal 6:16. Faith in Christ and the born-again experience is the entry point, gate or threshold to the City of God. Remember what the Lord said: Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. – John 3:5.
While Christ is the overall sure foundation (For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ – 1 Cor 3:11, according to Paul), His apostles would be the foundations of its wall – their names engraved on them. Each one is a precious stone. The wall itself is Jasper / Diamond – firm, transparent, and shining. The gospel of Jesus and the doctrine of Christ that these apostles preached and taught, which are contained in the New Testament, are still the foundation, the boundaries, and the framework of the New Testament Church. And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone; in Whom all the building fitly framed together grows unto a holy temple in the Lord: in Whom ye also are built together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. – Eph 2:20-22. We must pray for the peace of this New Jerusalem, not the Old which is in bondage even now.
The superstructure with its streets is transparent gold – pure gold, like unto clear glass. The Lord God is constructing this magnificent infrastructure as His City, His dwelling place, and His masterpiece, and each one of the members that are in His body – His Church, are placed in this structure by God Himself. The Lord added to the church – Act 2:47; Of Him are ye in Christ Jesus – 1 Cor 1:30. Each of the Lord’s believers are transformed from their sinful state to a sanctified state throughout their lifetime on earth and expect to be perfected when they rise up bodily after they sleep in the Lord (physical death) or when they are raptured at His coming. This perfect state is a precious and transparent state as believers would be as He is, and they would be able to reflect the glory of the Lord completely without any absorption loss. We know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is – 1 John 3:2.
Men have tried in vain to reach a transparent state in this life through their own efforts and trusting in their self-righteousness (as the Jews did and do even today). The Eastern religions Buddhism and Jainism that sprang up from Thamizhagam called it Nirvana (neer vannam – colour of water) and the Digambara state. Thamizhar called this transparent state the Mukthi state – the seventh in their Aaseevaham way of life which followed the white-clad Sitthar / Thiruthankarars / Shwethambara state. Some Sitthars also wore saffron attire (Kaavi – blood-soaked) to show that they have renounced all passions of life and have adopted the lifestyle of living exclusively for others’ welfare. (White robes in the Scriptures indicate purity and robes washed in the blood of the Lamb of God indicate holiness and God’s righteousness). These Sitthars provided solutions (Aasi) to life’s problems free of cost (eevu) to those who approached them at their homes (aham).
This surely is not the way to God; God’s Way is Jesus Christ, His Son; the only righteousness God would accept and the only sanctification that He would approve is the one He Himself provides in His Son. But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, Who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption. – 1Cor 1:30.
The Lord’s coming will happen when the last stone of this building is set in its place, the apex of which will be occupied by the Stumbling Stone that the original builders (the Israelites, who should have been the temple of God in the first place) rejected. This culmination and climax will happen immediately after the fullness of the Gentiles (Rom 11:25) and the fullness of the chosen remnant of Jews (Rom 11:12, 13), i.e., when the last person in the believing generation is saved by one’s faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. – Rom 10:12, 13.
Sadly, a clear attempt is being made by today’s ‘ministers’, to accommodate in this divine edifice, wood, hay, and stubble (instead of precious lively stones) by building this holy structure using disobedient and dead unbelievers and hypocrites (anything that defiles, whatsoever that works abomination or makes a lie – Rev 21:27) – all perishable material. The Lord warns about such servants: Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abides which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defiles the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. – 1Cor 3:12-17. Such a minister, if he realizes his blunder (probably late in life) and repents, might save his own soul.
