Can Christians evade taxes?

Jesus paid taxes – even when he was not required by the existing laws to do so! He did this so that He would not offend those around Him. Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee. – Matt 17:27. He said that we should render unto Caesar that which belongs to him and He was talking about the taxes here.

Good citizens pay taxes to the government for good causes – for the upkeep of infrastructure and upliftment of the fellow-beings.

The worldly people evade taxes and find means to rob the government of its due from its citizens.

Believers must pay their taxes and set a good example for the next generation to follow suit. Children are watching their parents and any attempt by parents to bypass the right path catches the attention of the children immediately. Any compromise on one of these financial dealings would send a wrong signal to them the effect of which might be seen in their unlawful dealings with others. Young people give little attention to paying back what they owe to others or even thanking those that do a favour financially or even otherwise.
