What do the details of 'New Jerusalem' mean in Revelation?

His New city is called the City of God, Sion and New Jerusalem.

Each of its twelve gates is a pearl and are the twelve tribes of Israel – all believing spiritual children of Abraham who are the Elect and the Chosen in Christ – Jews as well as Gentiles. These are also known as “the Israel of God”. – Gal 6:16. Faith in Christ and the born-again experience is the entry point, gate or threshold to the City of God. Remember what the Lord said: Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. – John 3:5.

While Christ is the overall sure foundation (For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ – 1Cor 3:11, according to Paul), His apostles would be the foundations of its wall – their names engraved on them. Each one is a precious stone. The wall itself is Jasper / Diamond – firm, transparent and shining. The gospel of Jesus and the doctrine of Christ that these apostles preached and taught, which are contained in the New Testament, are still the foundation, the boundaries and framework of the New Testament Church. And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone; in Whom all the building fitly framed together grows unto a holy temple in the Lord: in Whom ye also are built together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. – Eph 2:20-22. We must pray for the peace of this New Jerusalem, not the Old which is in bondage even now.

The super structure with its streets, is transparent gold – pure gold like unto clear glass. The Lord God is constructing this magnificent infrastructure as His City, His dwelling place and His masterpiece, and each one of the members that are in His body – His Church, are placed in this structure by God Himself. The Lord added to the church – Act 2:47; Of Him are ye in Christ Jesus – 1 Cor 1:30. Each of the Lord’s believers are transformed from their sinful state to a sanctified state throughout their lifetime on earth and expect to be perfected when they rise up bodily after they sleep in the Lord (physical death) or when they are raptured at His coming. This perfect state is a precious and transparent state as believers would be as He is, and they would be able to reflect the glory of the Lord completely without any absorption loss. We know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is – 1 John 3:2.
