Apostle Paul inspired by the Holy Spirit writes about the time of the return of the Lord or the day of Christ. – 2Thess 2:3-17. There is a great possibility that the personality mentioned here – the man of sin, the son of perdition – could be the “I” of every individual or the lover of “Self”. (Alternatively, Satan might indwell a globally prominent personality sooner than later. He might most probably be a Jew or a Muslim as both deny the divinity or the humanity of Jesus or both).

• Let no man deceive you by any means: This is another deception that the Lord predicted would come in the last days by which even the Elect (the Church composed of believers) are already deceived.
• for that day shall not come, except there comes a falling away first. When the Son of Man comes, shall He find faith (faithfulness) on this earth? Apostasy is the new normal. Genuine believers are hard to find. Most of the last day church is deluded. Laodicea?
• and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Satan can possess a man to make him a man of sin and the son of perdition, like he did Judas Iscariot. But currently it is at a global level as his evil angels possess a multitude and make them their abode. Satan has come out of his confinement. He has been loosed from the bottomless pit for a little season to deceive the nations again, now. Rev 20:3.
• Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; Satan exalts himself above everything that is called or worshipped as God today irrespective of the name given to any idol (behind every one of which is an evil spirit). Technology has grown to such a level that man with his money power and political position thinks (in vain, of course!) that he / she is all powerful (IoT, Robotics), all knowing (AI) and present everywhere (AR and VR) like a god.
• so that he as God sits in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. God does not dwell in temples made of hands as He says we are His temple. Evil spirits, Satan’s direct representatives today sit in this temple – the body of man (Satan sits in the last days Church – Laodicean) by possessing him / her and invoking the “I” in man thereby making oneself god because of money, political power and technology.
• Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? Paul had warned them of these final events (the dominating nature of Self? 2 Tim 3:1-5) even while he was with these believers.
• And now ye know what withholds that he might be revealed in his time. The angel that came down from heaven laid hold of Satan and bound him a thousand years (Rev 20:3). This angel was withholding the revelation of Satan all this while so that the gospel of the Kingdom of God could be preached to all nations. Now, (after 1967 AD), Satan is out in the open and has unleashed his deception worldwide making people believe that they are gods.
• For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: The “I” in man had been trying to dominate him even from the garden of Eden. It is a mystery because this is not happening evidently but subtly – even unknow and incomprehensible to the individual himself. It is inequity because it is against God’s purpose and plan.
• only he who now lets will let, until he be taken out of the way. The angel who had the key of the bottomless pit was restraining the revelation of Satan but has now let him loose.
• And then shall that Wicked be revealed. This is happening currently as Satan has been let loose already and is deceiving the nations now with Self powered by Money and Technology.
• whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming: This Satan-spawned lot will be destroyed by fire from heaven at the coming of the Lord. They will be cast into the lake of fire and brimstone along with Satan, the beast and the false prophet (Rev 20:10).
• Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; Satan, through his possessed lot, keeps showing great signs and lying wonders and all deceit of unrighteousness, making use of all his power, knowing that he has a short time and this being his last attempt to foil the plan of God. All those who will perish will fall to his deceit.
• because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. Those who will perish are the ones who rejected the purpose and plan of God in His Son for salvation of mankind. They did not receive the love of God nor the truth that Jesus came to witness of.
• And for this cause, God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: Those who will perish are the ones who believe the lie of Satan that they can be a god (decision maker) to themselves. Alarmingly, it is God who will send this strong delusion so that the rebels, unbelievers and the prosperity and comfort-focussed believers that seek after temporal things will believe this lie that man is “God”.
• That they all might be damned who believed not the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. Those who will perish are those who did not believe the word of God and the Word of God. They took pleasure in unrighteousness (and don’t want to come out of it) and so will be doomed to the lake of fire. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Rev 20:15.
