Why are many cities in Asia named as 'Ur'?
Abram, when he was seventy-five years old, set out with his wife and a few others from “Ur” to the place God would show him. Even Job, the earliest known genius and intellectual, belonged to the same place Ur. This is the Thamizh word for 'native'. The early people of Mesopotamia named their cities with an Ur suffix. That is why we see many such towns from Syria down to India and South East Asia. Eg., Singapore (Ur) is the native of the lion-people. Jews of the tribe of Judha? Jerusalem is originally Uru Salaim.
