Cow is considered sacred by the Brahmins of India as it produces milk to sustain life. This follows the calf worship by their Jewish ancestors who were in Egypt at the time of Joseph. They brought this religion with them and spread this in India too. The calf is worshipped as Nandhi in the Indian temples built for Easwaran.
